Today we explored Native American voices and issues, particularly the use of nonlinear plot structure and imagery, through the reading of N. Scott Momaday's introduction to The Way to Rainy Mountain. We also introduced the American Experience Reading Project and revised creation myths to include Momaday-inspired imagery.

We started off today by discussing the American Experience Reading Project, which is our year-long personal reading exploration. Please click the link to learn more and download the appropriate handouts.

Following this we learned some of Momaday's background and then followed along as I read the introduction to The Way to Rainy Mountain aloud. This can be found on page 32 of the orange English textbook.

Your assignment is to use Momaday's writing style to inspire a revision of your creation myth, in which you will add heavy imagery to your description of your "sacred site." Due next class period.
