Abecedarian Warmup: Things that have to do with autumn/fall Quick Write: Please take a few moments to “talk to” (IN WRITING) your journal about the novel you plan to write next month. If you know what you’re doing, share your plans with your journal. If you don’t, talk about the ideas you’re bouncing around. Today we started off with a quick survey of our preparedness for NaNoWriMo. We are going to be using something called the Snowflake Method to plan our novels this year. The first step of this is to follow the instructions in the attachment. This assignment looks very quick and simple, but it is extremely important - please give it your full attention and effort!

Abecedarian Warmup: music makers Quick Write: Think of books you’ve read – either by choice or for school – and consider which books you liked/loved vs. books you disliked/hated. What do you LIKE in books that you read? What in a book will make you walk away? Today we made posters about novels - what they are, what makes a good one, and what makes a bad one - in groups. This is not an activity that needs to be made up. Afterward, we went down to the computer lab and did an activity in preparation for NaNoWriMo; the assignment and necessary files are attached. It is due next time.

Abecedarian Warmup: types of plants Quick Write: An eponym is when something gets named after a person. Watch this video (you have to scroll down a bit) for a fun musical explanation. Brainstorm things – good or bad, serious or silly – that could turn YOU into an eponym. If your last name is already an eponym (like "grant" or "Gibson"), you can make up a new one for your name, use your first name, or use your mother’s maiden name or another family name. Today we wrote eponym origins. Please read the attachment for more information. This is due next time we meet.

WARMUP: An A-z list of "things that can be deadly" QUICK WRITE: An in-depth physical description of a living person in the room NOTES: "Connotation" is the cultural, rather than the literal, meaning of a word. Similar to euphemism, it can be used to color a description either positively or negatively without outwardly stating an opinion. DAILY GOALS:
