Using your NaNoWriMo Spreadsheet
This spreadsheet will help you keep track of your progress as you work on your novel's first draft. Keep it updated every day for accurate results. You will submit a copy of this spreadsheet at the end of the month.
NOTE: Be careful not to type information into any of the aqua/blue cells. Doing so will break the equations in your spreadsheet and will stop or corrupt the automatic calculations. If you accidentally type in a blue square, ask for help.
Instructions
- Download the NaNoWriMo
spreadsheet. Save it to your own disk, ADDING your last name and first initial to the beginning. (For example: my spreadsheet would be called BakerK_spreadsheet.)
- Find row 4. Find the pale yellow cell next to the golden cell labeled "Your
Personal Goal." Type your wordcount goal into the pale yellow cell.
- Beginning on November 1, you will fill in the yellow cells on one row per
day. You will start in row 10.
- In column B, input your total word count so far.
- In column C, input the number of hours you wrote that day.
- In column N, input a number (on a scale from 1-10) representing your
morale/mood.
- In column O, input any comments or notes-to-self you'd like to add.
- The blue cells will automatically fill in when you fill in the yellow cells.
If it fills in with green text, you are on schedule. If it fills in with red
text, you are falling behind.
- As you write, the pie chart in the top left corner will update, as will
the line graph in the top right corner. At least once a week, click on the
Full Size Progress Chart and Morale Chart tabs at the bottom of your spreadsheet.
