                          Getting Started with NaNoWriMo!

If this is your first time participating, welcome! NaNoWriMo is like recess for writers... and not only is it fun, but it helps you get over that "one day I'll write a novel" hump and actually get your novel written!

It is easy to get started with NaNoWriMo. Just follow these simple steps:

                          1. Sign up in room A202.
                          2. Set a word count goal. Your MINIMUM goal is your grade level times 1,000 (so a sophomore has to write at least 10,000 words). Your maximum recommended goal is 50,000. You can revise your goal later, but try to figure out how much time you have to spend on this, and divide up your prospective goal by 30 to find out how many words you would need to write each day.
                          3. Begin planning now but NOT writing - you can't start your novel until November 1.
                          4. On November 1, begin writing like the wind! Update your progress frequently (at least 1-2 times a week) with Mrs. Baker (room A202) so that you can get stickers and other prizes.
                          5. Check the bulletin boards near room A202 to see how you and your team are doing.
                          6. If you can, come to the weekly Write-Ins to boost your word count and compete for fun prizes.
                          7. Meet your goal by the end of the day on November 30!
                          8. Come to the awesome TGIO Party afterwards!
