About Mrs. Baker
My name is Kate Baker, and I've been teaching at Columbia High School since 2009. I teach English, ITE English, and Creative Writing. I also facilitate the National Novel Writing Month Young Writers' Program at Columbia.
I've lived in the Treasure Valley since 1995, when I moved here from Colorado Springs. I graduated from Meridian High School, where I was heavily involved in band and also participated in debate, competitive speech, Academic Decathlon, and National Honor Society. I am currently working on my masters degree in Teaching English/Language Arts at Boise State University, which is where I studied technical communication and creative writing as an undergraduate. My husband, Ryan, and I met in the Boise State marching band and now both enjoy working as educators. We have a cat named d'Artagnan and a toy poodle named Paisley, both of whom seem to think that we exist to entertain them.
I like camping, disaster movies, thrift and antique stores, mountains, travel, dress-up days, Photoshop, dinosaurs, boat rides, things with wings, planning things, steampunk, lists, critters, starting craft projects that I'll never finish, trees, Shakespeare, talent competition reality shows, hats, comfortable footwear, peanut butter, college football and basketball, books and notepads, chai tea, storybook pirates, moose, crocheted blankets, Mexican food, and friendship bracelets.
I dislike earwigs, bananas, allergy season, underwater scenes in movies, and people who let college sports rivalries get out of hand. | More About Mrs. BakerCurriculum Vitae - my current résumé
