About Mrs. Baker
My name is Kate Baker, and I've been teaching at Columbia High School since 2009. For the 2012-13 school year, I will be teaching Foundations of Literature, Honors Foundations of Literature, Issues in Contemporary Literature, ITE English, and Survey of Science Fiction.
I've lived in the Treasure Valley since 1995, when I moved here from Colorado Springs. I graduated from Meridian High School, where I was heavily involved in band and also participated in debate, competitive speech, Academic Decathlon, and National Honor Society.
I am currently working on my masters degree in Teaching English/Language Arts at Boise State University, which is where I studied technical communication and creative writing as an undergraduate.
My husband, Ryan, and I met in the Boise State marching band and now both enjoy working as educators. We have a cat named d'Artagnan and a toy poodle named Paisley, both of whom seem to think that we exist to entertain them.
I like camping, disaster movies, thrift and antique stores, mountains, travel, dress-up days, Photoshop, dinosaurs, boat rides, things with wings, planning things, lists, critters, starting craft projects that I'll never finish, trees, Shakespeare, talent-based reality shows, hats, comfortable footwear, peanut butter, college football and basketball, books and notepads, chai tea, storybook pirates, moose, crocheted blankets, Mexican food, and friendship bracelets.
I dislike earwigs, bananas, allergy season, underwater scenes in movies, and people who let college sports rivalries get out of hand.
