Welcome to ITE English for the 2012-13 school year!
This class is intended for students in the Information Technology/Engineering Academies in the Nampa School District.
In this class, students will develop skills in technical writing in preparation for the communication needs of the workplace, particularly as pertains to the information technology and engineering industries. Specifically, students will develop skills in the composition and design of technical documents including manuals, help files, instructional texts, and standard business communications. They will consider issues in style, clarity, precision, and specific industry formats while learning real-world applications of composition. Throughout the course of this class, students will build their reading and critical thinking skills through a guided exploration of literature, both fiction and nonfiction. Students will also research major issues in the modern technical industry and will complete a final project that incorporates their research and the technical writing skills they have developed.
During eleventh and twelfth grade, you will earn two credits in literature and two credits in composition. Successful completion of this course will earn you ONE credit in literature and ONE credit in composition. It is designed to meet and exceed the Common Core State Standards in literature for juniors and seniors. This course is required during junior OR senior year for all students in the ITE Academy.
