The Sherman Alexie essays are due to me by the end of the day.

Today's vocabulary word was indubitably and the journal entry is noted below.

Today we read the first "This I Believe" essay of the year, "Returning to What's Natural." You can read the complete text (and listen along to the podcast) here:

Following this, we wrote on the journal prompt: What do YOU believe in? (Not “God” or “gravity” or “Santa Claus”… but beliefs about the way the world works or should work…) If you get stuck, write about important influences in your life (people, things in your past, activities, etc.) and what they mean to you today.

For the last part of class, we did a literary speed dating activity to choose our books for the independent reading project. Each student checked out a book. Instructions regarding the project will be shared on Wednesday; students should begin reading!
